Medium-Duty and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicle Grant Program
Maryland Energy Administration will award grants based on up to 75% of the incremental costs between the qualified ZEV and the comparable petroleum-fueled vehicle using the values outlined in the Alternative Fuel Life-Cycle Environmental and Economic Transportation (AFLEET) Tool .
Anticipated budget of $10 million for FY25. Battery Electric Vehicle - Up to 75% of Intremental Cost Eligible, Maximum Grant value per vehicle: $525,000
Program application period closes on January 31, 2025.
Vehicles must be registered in Maryland to the applicant. Vehicles must be domiciled and primarily operated in Maryland for no less than 3 years from vehicle delivery date.
There is no scrappage requirement to qualify for funding. However, applications that replace existing diesel vehicles will be viewed more favorably during application review process. Level of fleet commitment. Cohesive plan for incorporating ZEVs into fleet, especially for applicants who are new to ZEVs. Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) will give preference to ZEVs owned or operated by an entity engaged in business activity that impacts public health, the environment, or infrastructure in an overburdened or underserved community.
Competitive application process. Team review of each application using the program evaluation criteria outlined in the FOA. Projects will be ranked from highest to lowest by the review team. Recommendations for awards will be submitted to MEA for approval.
